My Sister in Law & I
This weekend my Sister in Law came to visit from Las Vegas, Nevada with her yarn bag in hand chock full of yarn, hooks, notions and the creativity to create something unique. It feels good to have a family member who shares the same love for crocheting that I can sit down with and just talk and think crocheting. You see my sister in law is one of those people who is talented when it comes to arts and crafts and she has so many ideas that turn out so beautiful.
When she arrived she told me about a purse she has seen that was made of recycled Capri Sun juice pouches and she had the idea of creating one made with the pouches and crochet. We couldn't wait to get started on the project and immediately went to the store and bought boxes of Capri Sun, drained the pouches and when we woke up the next day we got the yarn, hooks and juice pouches in motion.
After hours of crocheting and talking we completed our projects, But it wasn't the project that made me feel accomplished it was the time spent sitting, talking and bonding with each other. See, I am the youngest of three children with a brother and sister 14 and 13 years older than me and I pretty much grew up like an only child so sitting with someone who shares the same love for crocheting means a lot to me. I am not only blessed with the God given gift of crochet but blessed with having a sister in law who I can sit and create and share ideas of creativity with. I look forward to sitting with her again on her next visit cooking up another crochet masterpiece. Thank you Kymm Buckner, love you Sis! :)

Ms. Ann's Hands
Hey everyone! Today I will be featuring one of my fellow crochet artists, Antoinette Jorge of Ms. Ann's Hands. I instantly fell in love with her designs when I saw the photos of her amazing work and I know you will too once you see the beautiful pieces that were brought to life by Ms. Ann's Hands. Here is a brief bio of who Antoinette Jorge is:
"I
am a 54 year old grandmother of three. Two beautiful boys, ages 13 and 9
-- 1 beautiful granddaughter age 2 and 1 beautiful daughter, age 32 and
loving it. This endeavor has been a long time coming. Faith played a
huge part of this reality. I thank God for giving me the wisdom and
knowledge to empower myself to make a dream become a reality. I thank
all of those who encouraged me and stood by me. I started crocheting at
the tender age of 8 in Brooklyn, New York sitting on the stoop with a
friend whose name was also Ann. Hence, 46 years later ..... you know the
rest. All of my work is made with tender loving care, the grace in my
hands and the vision in my mind. I truly hope that you enjoy and
appreciate Ms. Ann's Hands as much as I do. One love and stay blessed."
As I look at this talented woman's work I can see the love and creativity that she invested in creating her "masterpiece." I love to see pieces that demonstrate class and originality. Ms. Ann is one of many crochet artists that has been blessed with the gift to work a skein of yarn and a hook. I encourage her to keep up the excellent work and I am looking forward to seeing more from Ms. Ann's Hands.

I Don't Play, I Crochet!
First I would like to introduce myself. My name is LaTanya Buckner and I am a crochet artist.
I have been crocheting since the age of 13 but for years I was limited to crocheting blankets due to the fact I had a hard time understanding patterns and the only person who knew how to crochet was the neighbor who taught me but she moved away shortly after teaching me how to crochet. At the age of 20 I had crocheted blankets for my newborn son and a couple blankets for a friend of mine whose daughter was born 6 weeks after my son. That was 23 years ago.
In 2008 I decided to pick up the yarn and hook and since the internet was a great tool for finding video tutorials I took advantage by watching You Tube videos. First I found videos by one of my crochet idols, tjw1963 who is one of the best teachers out there! Then I started looking at things such a bikinis and figuring out how to make them without the use of a pattern. Within a couple months I had started making swim suits, bikinis and dresses like crazy, then I decided to come up with my own crochet designs business "Cafe Crochet Designs."
Over the years I have met some wonderful crochet artists, the first one being Ebony Chappel of "I Am Crochet" out of Decatur, Georgia. It seemed like we were creative twins that shared the same vision when it came to crocheting and even though both of us had mad skills with the yarn and hook, we always managed to assist and help one another with any crochet idea, situation, problem or solution. It was a wonderful thing having someone who lived so far but yet was so close with a crochet connection. Then there were The Double Stitch Twins from Chicago who are two beautiful sisters with one heck of a talent for crocheting designs that have other crocheters following their patterns. Then there was Marcelle Cooper-Greffen who welcomed me into her crochet group "Fresh Off The Hook" which allowed me to spread my wings and start recording videos for You Tube showcasing what projects I had been working on. I then decided to branch out and do video tutorials, create a group of my own as well as write patterns. I thank not only the ladies I have mentioned but I also thank all the wonderful crocheting ladies and gentlemen out there creating the most unique and beautiful pieces of art. This blog page has been created for all of you.
